Adi Adendorf's new AEON Vee was supposed to make its debut but problems with the manufacturing of the new designed body panels prevented us from seeing the car. This was a great pity as much midnight oil was burned to get this car ready. Much interest is this new car has been shown - even from Karters in the Eastern Cape.

Saturday saw the Formula Libre cars take to the track sporting the decals of their new series sponsor -Presbivision . All the drivers received a "goodie bag" which contained sponsor stickers, badges, earplugs, company/product information and a branded helmet bag! Our thanks to Egmont for his generous sponsor ship!

Also present at the racing, having flown down from Johannesburg, was Libre sponsor and enthusiast Robert Reddy from Reddy Couriers. He was accompanied by his wife Michelle. It is hoped that we might see Robert behind the wheel of a single seater in the near future!

Making its debut was the Formula Libre cap sporting our new upgraded badge - our thanks to Reg for organising them - they really look good.
Although down on numbers the days racing was good with great dices throughout the field. Making a welcome return to the track was Thys Pretorius in Mike Adendorf's Vee. Thys is hoping to have his Ford completed for the next meeting. It was also good to see Warren Hardenberg back behind the wheel of the ex Chris Danks Vee.
The A class cars promised some exciting racing with Reg having upgraded his Gti motor to 2 litre to take on pace setter Helder Kiala in the Fantastic Racing Reynard. Reg's attempts were dashed in race 1 with suspension failure at the end of the back straight giving Helder a big fright as the Gti spun in front of him. This was compounded in race 2 when the Gti dropped oil on the track and was black flagged. To add insult to injury he was fined R 1 500.
Egmont(BMW) and Vic Pitro (Gti) had a great dice in race 2 with Egmont getting the better of the Gti on the last lap.
Helder took overall victory in class A for the day followed by Mike Verrier, Egmont in third and Vic  in fourth.
Class B saw the sole entry of Pieter Lotriet's Ford (sporting a new set of Avon rubber) had a good second race after changing carburettor -much work is being carried out on other Fords so as to build up this class.
Class C saw Warren and Thys having a great dice in both races. Thys spun in race 1 but managed to catch Warren but not pass him. Race 2 saw Thys lead Warren only to be pipped on the finish line by the "wiley old fox"  John Beekman racing Calvin's Vee tried to play with the A class cars. In race 2 he got the jump on the BMW of Egmont coming out of turn 1 - Egmont got his revenge on the pesky Vee down the main straight.
John won class C, Warren 2nd and Thys 3rd.
Star of the day in this class was Mike Verrier also in a Fantastic Racing Reynard who has improved in leaps and bounds and lead his first Libre race only to lose out to Helder on the finish line of race 2.
Overall winner of the day (Index of performance) was Egmont Baumgartner (BMW), 2nd Vic Pitro (Gti) with a tie for third between Mike Verrier (Reynard) and John Beekman (Vee).

The next race meeting is 31st July 2010!

Mike A were on holiday and this allowed Thys to test the car after dyno tuning and the addition of an airbox.
Chris briefing Warren on the car.
Mike V and Reg in the pitlane
Vic Pitro and son.  (sadly Vic is transferred back to Gauteng.)
AEON1 (The Prototype) were at the track for initial testing on Thursday.  Unfortunately the single seater slot were cancelled due to only one car.  (The tin tops had a race the coming Saturday.)  Three types of black were used to evaluate a color scheme.  The Air box and other body finishing must still be done.  We will do track testing before the next race to get a feel how it handle and perform.
